Research

We conduct research and teach on gender as a (bio)social fact. Our research is predominantly qualitative, but we value and appreciate the entire spectrum of empirical methods.

Gender is understood as both constituted and constructed; in other words, as produced by (sometimes stubborn) everyday practices in self-logical structures.

Topics we are currently addressing from both a theoretical and empirical perspective include:

  • Care
  • Family
  • Fitness
  • Age(ing)
  • Undoing gender
  • Social (e.g., feminist) movements
  • Anti-gender mobilizations
  • Work
  • Careers
  • Sexual self-determination
  • Body standards
  • Violence
